Duties of Women's Missionary Society Officers
President: Preside at all meetings, its Executive Board and serve as ex-officio member of all commissions or committees, where they exist; prepare reports with other elected officers; develop, with the Executive Board, a plan to assure the Society’s fulfillment of its responsibilities and represent the Society at all meetings; ensure the Constitution and Bylaws of the organization are duly observed and the actions are carried into effect; appoint all committees not provided for; sign all orders drawn on the treasury for the disbursement of funds; serve as liaison and communicate with Conference organization and area, if applicable; Chair the Commission on Administration.
1st Vice President: Perform the duties of the President in her absence or disability; become President upon the resignation or death of the President; Chair the Program Committee, plan, evaluate and promote the programs of the organization in conjunction with the President; coordinate the public policy and legislative action; perform other duties as requested by the President; Chair the Commission on Christian Social Action.
2nd Vice President: Perform the duties of the President in the absence of the President and 1st Vice President; Chair the Commission on Mission Education and Interpretation.
Recording Secretary: Keeps accurate minutes of all meetings and its Executive Board, give notice of the meetings, serve as custodian of all records and official papers, sign along with the President all official papers, keep an accurate up-to-date roll of membership, along with the names of officers, perform other duties as the president may assign, provide for gathering and preserving of historical records and documents where there is no Historian; Serve on the Commission on Administration.
Assistant Recording Secretary: Assist the Recording Secretary in performing her duties and in the absence of the Recording Secretary shall perform her duties.
Corresponding Secretary: Under the directions of the President prepare and conduct correspondence with members .
Treasurer: Become informed concerning financial responsibility of the Society, disburse funds on order signed by the President, account for all funds, With the Executive Board, develop a plan to receive funds for individuals or Units on a regular basis, consult with the President to establish a budget, make an itemized financial report at regularly schedule meeting; Serve on the Commission on Administration.
Promotion and Missionary Education Director: Present and carry out the Connectional Programs and study programs as directed by the Conference organization, promote mission education opportunities, mission studies, local mission opportunities, and supply material and educational resources for mission programs and projects, promote and interpret the work of the Connectional and Conference Commission on Education and Interpretation supports; Serve on the Commission on Education and Interpretation.
Director of the Young People Division: She shall plan and supervise the work of the young people, provide a report of the young people’s work at regular scheduled meetings.
Parliamentarian: Will follows the rules contained in Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised, latest edition, which shall govern the proceedings of the organization in all cases to which they are applicable if they are not consistent with this Constitution and Bylaws and The Doctrine and Discipline of the A. M. E. Church.
Historiographer/Statistician: Gather and preserve all historical records and documents.
